Kirk Bus Division, Bus Depot + Maintenance Facility, Baltimore, MD
30% Design
Client: Maryland Transit Administration (MTA)

Program:
The analysis and design of a new bus division facility at the intersection of Kirk Avenue and Bonaparte Ave.
Design Approach:
The site included the lot on which the former, outdated facility sat and a second lot acquired for expansion. The transit center was conceived as a “good neighbor” in an existing community that has been exposed to noise and pollution from the existing 50-year old bus facility that included outdoor parking for 175 buses. The new facility will park all buses inside and include all-new operations and administration buildings as well as a state-of-the art bus repair and maintenance facility with 18 bus bays. The facility is designed to achieve a LEED Silver rating.
Responsibilities:
ArchPlan conducted a feasibility analysis, performed master planning services, and completed the concept design for the structures. ArchPlan has also participated and presented in numerous community meetings. ArchPlan is a sub-consultant to Wilson T. Ballard Engineer.
